  • Community of Practice: An evening of Deep Brain Reorienting with Dr Frank Corrigan

    6pm May 7 2025

    Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)®
    is a trauma psychotherapy

DBR aims to access and process traumatic experience by tracking the original sequence of physiological responses that occurred when the deep brain had been alerted to a threat or an attachment disruption.

Deep Brain Reorienting was developed by Dr. Frank Corrigan mainly for the treatment of attachment shock; but it can also be applied to the processing of other unresolved traumatic experiences.

Join us for a night of nibbles, networking, Q & A with Frank Zooming in from the UK, and hearty discussions to support our growing complex-trauma-informed community.

WHERE: SAMESH Community Centre, 57 Hyde Street, Adelaide City

    WHEN: 6pm 7 May 2025

    ENTRY: FREE for members

    $10.00 for non members

We’re exploring what our community of trauma therapists would like more of and hope to bring tailored workshops that reflect our interests and learning needs in the near future.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Dr Frank Corrigan shared with us the unique neuroscience behind this revolutionary healing approach to shock and trauma resolution highlighting the deep brain systems implicated in orienting towards shocking, horrifying or overwhelming and frightening stimuli and the role this plays in the aetiology of trauma symptoms.

Deep Brain Reorienting

This event has passed.

Join us for a transformative two-day training exploring the profound impact of deep midbrain systems on trauma and its clinical consequences. Unravel the distinction between circuits for shock, particularly attachment shock (past or present), and circuits for affective and defensive responses, the foundation of Dr Frank Corrigan’s Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) approach.

DBR is an evidence-based trauma memory processing modality studied in the laboratory of Professor Ruth Lanius. Developed from an understanding of stimulus-response sequences in the upper brainstem, DBR activates a healing process by tracking these sequences while leveraging physiological knowledge. This approach aims for the optimal resolution of the clinical consequences of traumatic experiences.

DBR can also be useful when attachment urges are conflicted because of adverse experiences. As DBR is underpinned by a nuanced understanding of the neuroscience of early attachment trauma, overwhelming preverbal experiences can be safely processed to resolution. It is an exciting step forward in the treatment of complex trauma.

We’re fortunate to welcome Dr Andy Harkin from WA back to Adelaide to facilitate this two day workshop.
